Kirsty Anderson
Board Secretary and Mentor

I grew up in the UK, as an only child in a blue-collar, working-class family. We emigrated to Australia when I was nine, searching for better economic opportunities and more sunshine. For me, Australia really was the lucky country; I had access to quality, affordable education and universal health care that made it possible for a clever kid like me to thrive.

My parents are passionate believers in education and fostered my boundless curiosity. At critical times in my education and career, I’ve had amazing mentors who have generously
shared their time and experience with me.

I’ve forged a career I love in archaeology, where I work in cultural resource management. I’ve also worked for Traditional Owners, helping to set up their corporations and assisting with their governance.

I passionately believe in fair and equitable access to opportunity for all, and quality education is a key pillar of this philosophy.

In early May 2024, I had just finished my Master of Business Administration and was reflecting on all the people and social structures that had contributed to making this achievement possible. I realised that I wanted to give back and help other children like me who had so much potential but just needed a bit more support. Achiever’s Club was the perfect fit. I mentor at the Butler chapter, where I particularly enjoy helping with English and Science.

I look forward to contributing my experience and enthusiasm as a mentor and as Secretary of the Board.
