Ashinka Weeratunge
Mentor

About me

I'm Sri Lankan born, and moved to Australia when I was 14. I live with my husband and our dog Ziggy (a kelpie x rescue from Newman). I work at Rio Tinto as a Mining Executive, supporting with strategic projects for 17 different Iron Ore mine sites. I love to travel, read and hike in my spare time. I'm also number 1 babysitter and (only) favourite aunt to my 4 year old nephew.

Why I decided to become a Mentor...

I've been volunteering for the last 5ish years and wanted to find something where I could tangibly make a difference.

Why I would recommend becoming a Mentor...

The trusting relationships you build with the children and seeing the impact you can make on their futures is worth all the time you dedicate to it.

The Achievers Club WA acknowledges the Whadjuk people of the Noongar Nation, Traditional Custodians of the land on which we live and work on today. We would like to pay our respects to their Elders past and present and to extend that respect to all First Australians.
